Blue Mountains, Ontario

Country Farmhouse

A romantic country farmhouse of murals, dusty rose and soft blue.

A contemporary new-build farmhouse in the Blue Mountains, where clean modern architecture — soaring timber ceilings, exposed trusses, walls of glass and a monumental stone hearth — is softened into something warm and welcoming. Layered linens, block-printed textiles, natural woods and collected pieces bring intimacy to the scale, so these open, light-filled rooms feel as easy for a quiet evening by the fire as for a house full of friends. Modern bones, farmhouse warmth.

Family Home

A spirited family home where saturated colour and pattern meet timeless architecture.

A spirited family home that proves traditional rooms need not be quiet ones. Saturated colour and layered pattern carry through every space — a verdant green dining room, a jewel-box raspberry library lined with books and art, a graphic checkerboard entry — each grounded by classic architecture and a collector's eye. Bold yet entirely liveable, it is Colette's signature: a fresh, fearless take on the traditional home.

Forest Hill, Toronto

City Residence

A dramatic Forest Hill residence in deep, lacquered blue.

A dramatic Forest Hill residence drenched in deep, lacquered blue. A custom stone-mosaic entry opens to an art-filled sitting room where gilt frames, citrine velvet and considered antiques play against moody panelled walls. Confident and glamorous, the rooms use colour as architecture — richness held in check by restraint.

Mid-Century Ensuite

A mid-century-modern ensuite carved from two baths and a closet.

A mid-century-modern-inspired ensuite, created by combining two separate bathrooms and an unused closet into one large, light-filled space. Warm walnut, honed marble and clean, quiet lines make it a calm, private retreat.

Den & Guest Room

A den shaped by a love of mid-century design, pattern and colour.

A den inspired by the clients’ love of mid-century-modern design, unexpected pattern and colour. It doubles easily as a guest room, with a custom pull-out sofa and an ottoman on wheels that moves as the room’s use changes.

Art Deco Bath

An Art Deco-inspired bath in black and white.

An Art Deco-inspired bath — one of Colette’s favourite periods — built around the clients’ love of black and white. Book-matched stone sets the stage, while the high-end plumbing fixtures act as the jewellery of the room.

Rosedale, Toronto

Rosedale Century Home

A 1902 century home, reimagined in 2015 — and still current a decade on.

A landmark 1902 Rosedale residence, gutted to the studs and completely reimagined into an entirely new look and feel. Walls were opened, the lower level dropped, heated marble floors laid and grand custom doors hung throughout, with a marble-and-brass kitchen anchored by wallpapers imported from France and England. What had been a dated century home became warm, dramatic and thoroughly modern — and, completed in 2015, it still looks current today: a hallmark of Colette's timeless approach, and of interiors that hold their value.

Testimonials

“Working with Colette Volk has been an absolute joy. She first helped us decorate virtually from Arizona during the pandemic, seamlessly bringing our vision to life across the miles. Her talent and eye for detail transformed our house into an incredible, spectacular environment where we can raise our family and truly enjoy life. Every space she touched feels both warm and elegant — equally perfect for cozy nights at home as it is for lively dinner parties with friends. This is the second home she has designed for us, and each experience has been nothing short of exceptional. We absolutely love working with Colette and couldn’t recommend her more highly.”
